YOUNG FOREVER

Going Strong at 85?

I had fantastic time last full week. If you remember , I had written to you all about my new series on people going strong at  70, 80 years of age. Feel, still Young at Heart. Still Going Strong!
I met some of the amazing people who are leading exceptionally happy lives and have no complains about life.

Their secrets of living healthy and happy life?
You will read all about them in the new series called "FOREVER YOUNG" Starting this week.

When I met all of them personally for an interview, it really surprised me looking at their physical fitness. Their LIFESTYLE, Their ideas about HAPPINESS. Their views on  LIFE. ACHIEVEMENTS. CONTENTMENT. MONEY. RELATIONS. GUESTS. HONOR. RESPECT. NECESSITIES. DISCIPLINE. TENSIONS. STRESS. SICKNESS, DIFFICULTIES. And their courage to meet all the challenges with success

It sounded to my ears like a fairy tale...

Long long ago, there lived a gentleman and a lady. They were very poor. They worked hard for whole of their lives to give everything to their eight children. They faced many difficulties. ... the story ending with... and they lived happily ever after.

Their expectations from life, bare minimum.  Their expectations from people, nothing. Their ideas about luxury and extravaganza,  What is it?  Their thinking about life, Simple. Their thinking about others, caring and sharing. They believed in giving to others. They believed in discipline in life. They had no demands from life. In fact, they never lived all their lives, beyond means. Their respect for others was from the bottom of heart. Their concerns for others were sincere. They lived their lives for others.

And YES!  they too had their own ambitions. There is nothing wrong in being ambitious. But their ambitions were also not BIG. All of them lived a respectful life with tons of family responsibilities when many of them had forgotten to live their own lives.

When I met them... It was a great pleasure for me. But somewhere in my mind, a thought was bothering me.   loosing this generation will be a big loss for our society. When you need someone to tell you, this is life! This is how you must live....Lead....Think....Share and Care.

Through this series, YOUNG FOREVER,  I wish to tell them, YOU are our pride. YOU are great human beings first and then great examples and inspiration for new generation... to think like you do,  to make this life more meaningful. More purposeful, and Happy.

Meet them next week. Don't miss them. And forward their stories to your friends and family. Because, Sharing is caring.

Stay Healthy. Stay Happy. Stay Fit. Always.

Delicious Banana with lot many curative properties

The most affordable, healthy fruit: Banana

History:

The banana is mentioned for the first time in history in Buddhist texts in 600 BC.
Alexander the Great discovered the taste of the banana in the valleys of India in 327 BC.
The existence of an organized banana plantation could be found in China back in the year 200 AD.
In 650, Islamic conquerors brought the banana to Palestine
Arab merchants eventually spread bananas over much of Africa.

The banana is of a great nutritional value. It provides a combination of benefits to our body such as energy, tissue building, besides a good supply of vitamins and minerals. A large size banana
gives about 100 calories. It is the most complete balanced diet in combination with milk.
It contains high proteins which includes three of the essential amino acids. Banana is known for enhancing healthy digestion and promoting a feeling of youthfulness.

Ripe bananas are highly beneficial in the treatment of Ulcerative Colitis, being bland, smooth, easily digestible and slightly laxative in its properties.

Constipation, Diarrhoea, Dysentery, Anamia, Allergies, Kidney disorders, Tuberculosis, Urinary disorders,Over weight, Menstrual disorders, Burns and wounds

Bananas contain about 74% water, 23% carbohydrates, 1% proteins, 0.5% fat, and 2.6% fiber (these values vary between different banana cultivars, degree of ripeness and growing conditions). In an unripe banana the carbohydrates are mostly starches. In the process of ripening the starches are converted to sugars; a fully ripe banana has only 1-2% starch.

Besides being a good source of energy, banana is a rich source of potassium, and hence is highly recommended for patients suffering from high blood pressure.

It is claimed that bananas have beneficial effect in the treatment of intestinal disorders, including diarrhea (diarrhea). Bananas are unusual in that they work for constipation too. They contain mucilaginous bulking substances and are easy to digest. Other fruit which may also be good for intestinal conditions include mangoes, figs, pineapple, and papaya.

Precautions:

Banana must be thoroughly ripe for easy digestion. Raw banana contains 20 to 25% starch and during the process of ripening, this starch is wholly and completely converted into assimilable sugar. Banana should never be kept in the refrigerator as the low temperature prevents its ripening. Banana should not be taken by patients suffering from kidney failure because of its high potassium contents.

Why Apple a day keeps Doctor away?

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away”? but why?

Do you really know what makes an apple so special?
Why is it that we never hear an orange or a banana a day keeps the doctor away?

Apples have properties that no other fruits have and its benefits have been proven overtime. You will be able to get the benefits of these properties individually with other fruits, but an apple combines everything and makes it simpler. It has been shown over and over that if it’s not simple, easy and fast, people won’t take care of their health.

1-Apple contains Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps greatly your immune system. A lot of people who lack Vitamin C in their diet have poor healing, bruise easily and have bleeding gums.

2-Prevent Heart Diseases. The reason it can prevent both coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease is because apples are rich in flavonoid. Flavonoids are also known for their antioxidant effects.

3-Low in calories. A regular size apple has between 70-100 calories. Eating an apple when craving for candy or chocolate can make the desire disappear since apple in itself contains sugar, but gives you only ? of the calories.

4-Prevent Cancers. Notice the plural. We all know that cancer comes in several forms and in different places. Apples target multiple cancers such as colon cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer in women.

5-Apples contain phenols, which have a double effect on cholesterol. It reduces bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol. They prevent LDL cholesterol from turning into oxidized LDL, a very dangerous form of bad cholesterol which can be deadly.

6-Prevent tooth decay. Tooth decay is an infection that seriously damages the structure of your teeth, which is caused primarily because of bacteria. The juice of the apples has properties that can kill up to 80% of bacteria. So there you have it, an apple a day also keeps the dentist away!

7-Protects your brain from brain disease. This is something many people don’t know, and when you consider that your brain makes the person you are, it gives a whole new perspective. Apple has substances called phytonutrients, and these phytonutrients prevents neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinsonism.

8-Healthier Lungs. A research at the University of Nottingham Research shows that people who eat 5 apples or more per week has lower respiratory problems, including asthma.

9-They taste great! And not only that, they also come in many flavors and colors. Not in a mood for a green apple? Why not get a red one, or a Macintosh! Their taste can vary greatly, but still give you all the apple benefits.

Variety is an important element to maintaining your health.

Stay Healthy. Stay Happy Always.
